Merchant Rules

West Kingdom

Upheld June AS XXIX

  1. Merchants wishing to sell at West Kingdom events are expected to comply with all state and local laws. All merchants wishing to sell at West Kingdom events must have a valid sellers permit.
  2. Food merchants will not be permitted to sell at West Kingdom events.
  3. The SCA is a re-creation group, therefore there are some items that will not be allowed on merchants row. These items include, but are not limited to, the following: gas generators, unshielded light sources, camping trailers, voice amplification devices, and vehicles.
  4. Merchants wishing to post advertisements will be responsible for the removal of their advertisements and responsible for any damages caused by posting of those advertisements.
  5. All merchants must make an effort to be as period as possible. These steps must include: wearing garb whenever possible; taking steps to hide mundane items (unless it is absolutely necessary for the merchant); if sale items are very mundane, such as soda or Coleman fuel, they should be kept out of sight and signs posted that these items are for sale.
  6. If a forge or other fire source is being used as a part of the merchants trade, a fire extinguisher must be kept in plain sight at all times.
  7. If a merchant is a constant problem or refuses to meet the guide lines set up for merchanting, the West Kingdom can ask the merchant not to sell at future West Kingdom events. This does not mean that the person cannot attend, just that they may not sell any merchandise.
